The large redshift surveys (DESI & PFS)
DOA @ SJTU
is an institutional member of the
DESI project. It
will get redshifts for millions of galaxies at
redshift ~1.5. The observation is supposed to
start in late 2019.
Prof. Xiaohu Yang
is a member of the
PFS project. It
will get redshifts for millions of galaxies at
redshift ~2.5. The observation is supposed to
start in late 2020. Upto 4 Postdocs and students have the
rights to use the PFS data.
The partner groups of MPA at SHAO (contract: 5 years)
The first Partner Group of Max-Planck Institute for
Astrophysics (MPA) in Shanghai Astronomical Observatory
(SHAO) was founded in May 2000. Profs.
Yipeng
Jing and Gerhard Boerner were the leaders of the
partner group in SHAO and MPA respectively.
The second partner group
was founded on Aug 3, 2006. The
scientific goal of this partner group is to carry out
collaborations between SHAO and MPA in the gas dynamical
simulations and related cosmological and galaxy research
topics. Profs. Xiaohu Yang
and Volker Springel were the leaders of the partner group in
SHAO and MPA respectively.
The third
partner group which was founded on January, 2011. Profs.
Cheng Li and
Guinevere
Kauffmann were the leaders of the partner group in SHAO and MPA
respectively. You may refer to

Probably
the fourth partner group will be established
soon. Profs.
Hong Guo and
Volker Springel
will be the new
partner group leaders.
Students in the
research group, if have common interests between SHAO and
MPA and have made good progress on the collaboration
project, may have the opportunity to visit MPA for one year.
