Shanghai 2019 is the first of a series of biennial workshops on cosmology and galaxy formation jointly organized by the recently established Astronomy department at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Tsung-Dao Lee Institute, and Shanghai Astronomical Observatory. The purpose of this workshop is to build an open and friendly forum for enhancing collaborations within the east Asian region as well as for strengthening our connections with the global community. As such, the format of the workshop will be relatively relaxed and informal, allowing for more interactions and discussions, among participants and also with students.
