Initial Density Field Reconstructions with Galaxy Surveys

Abstract:

Future and ongoing redshift surveys observe a large range of galaxies in high number and mass density. However, the dynamics and formation of galaxies are mainly driven by the underlying dark matter density fields.

I will present the iterative Bayesian BIRTH algorithm, that reconstructs the initial and final density fields from three dimensional galaxy distributions, explaining both, the cosmological perturbation model and also the statistical inference scheme that BIRTH is based upon. Finally I will discuss the applications of the resulting Gaussian density fields for constraint simulations
